Through situating canonical and extra-canonical texts within their Jewish and Graeco-Roman frame, this course engages the complex social, cultural and historical fabric of writings included in Christian Scripture. Close reading, informed by critical debate, invites students to explore contemporary manifestations of ancient teaching and practice - in space and over time.
